TYLER FARR: Home Vs The Road

audio

Tyler Farr knows there’s a big difference between being on the road on tour, and being off tour at home. On the road, there’s a certain routine. It can be a crazy, weird hours routine, where Tyler sings his song “Our Town,” and then goes to bed at two in the morning. But it’s a routine. When Tyler’s off the road, there’s no sleeping until noon–there’s chores to be done. Tyler’s wife Hannah has that country music singer honey-do list ready to go, which includes runs to the store, the post office and to get Nigerian dwarf pygmy goat food. Well, maybe that’s not routine for most honey-do lists.

“You go to bed at midnight or two, and you get up at ten, or twelve. You have a routine, you do it. You eat lunch at this time, every night’s the same. You get back home…’hey, I need you to run  up to Target for me…or whatever.  I need this, this and this. Hey, can you run to the post office? Hey can you run to the co-op, we’re out of goat food.’ Yes. I have two goats. Two Nigerian dwarf pygmy goats. “Dolly” and “Darla” are their names. I did not name them.”

“She (Hannah) likes a lot of animals and I thought it would be a good idea to surprise her and got her a couple cats, a couple Nigerian dwarf pygmy goats, some chickens, and then there’s poop all over our front and back porch daily. Everywhere. It’s like someone spilled a bag of brown M&M’s every morning. Terrible.”

“Found em on Craig’s list. They were over by me, and she picks out these pygmy goats from Nigeria and we go pick em up. Watch em head-butt each other. That’s the most entertaining thing I see’em do. Yep, they eat poison ivy and head-butt each other.”
