This upcoming weekend Cam will add her name, and voice, to the number of people that have given a TEDx Talk. On Saturday, January 21, she will appear before a live audience in Reno, Nevada for the TEDxUniversityofNevada conference. Cam shares that “I’ve been watching TED Talks for years, and I’ve applied the shared ideas to my life countless times. It’s honestly some of the best content on the Internet.” Of course, Cam also admits that she’s “definitely nervous,” but at the same time she’s really excited about this major honor. Launched in 2009, TEDx is a program of locally organized events that are licensed by TED. Some of the best talks from TEDx events have gone on to be featured on TED.com and garnered hundreds of millions of views from audiences across the globe.
TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages. Meanwhile, independently run TEDx events help share ideas in communities around the world.
Cam is nervous but excited about her TEDx Talk coming up this weekend. (:16)
“I’m so excited to give a TED talk, I’m definitely nervous. It’s a really big honor just to be included in such a great group of storytellers and people that want to share ideas with such a great community that cares, so I’m really excited about it.”
