You might be listening to Luke Combs‘ song “Hurricane” now, but chances are his mom and dad heard it first. Luke is super close to his parents, and loves sending the music he makes to them as soon as he can. His parents have always supported his musical efforts, dating back to his days in school chorus. So, when Luke has a song, he sends it off to his parents for a first listen. Of course, Luke knows he’s sending it to an audience that’s going to love it, but being an only child it’s important for him to stay close with his mom and dad.
Luke Combs says that his relationship with his parents is important to him personally and professional. (:46)
“My parents have always been huge supporters especially of everything I’ve done. I was in chorus growing up, so I was always doing something with singing. I mean even in college I was dabbling in stuff, and playing with friends who had bands and singing with them, and my parents were always super supportive. So, I always try to send them anything…even from work tapes when I’ve written a song I’ll, you know, send it especially to my dad I’ll send it and go you know ‘what do you think of this tune?’ A lot of the times he loves it you know. I mean he’s dad though you know, and so, but I’m an only child so it’s important for me to stay in touch with my parents and I want to make them proud, and I want them to hear what I’m doing out here and hear the things I’m working on, so I try to run as much stuff as I can by them.”
