Congrats to Old Dominion on their number-one hit “Song For Another Time.” This is the second chart topper from their album Meat and Candy following “Break Up With Him.” Matthew Ramsey, Old Dominion’s lead singer, says that the song was a last minute addition to the album, with band mate Trevor Rosen adding that the first time they played it at a show, the fans went crazy for the track. Matthew agrees, saying that on their current headlining Meat and Candy tour, “Song For Another Time” is still a “special moment in the show.”

“We wrote that after we thought we were done with the album, and we actually were kind of pitching it to a couple different artists to see if they would cut it and the more people passed on it the more we were like I’m kind of glad they passed on that because we were falling more and more in love with the song, and finally decided man this has to be on there and so knowing it would knock a song off of the album we still flew home, made a special trip home to record that one song and make sure it was on there.”

TREVOR: “The first time we ever played it out, we were like ‘it sounded pretty good in sound check. This is a new song we’re thinking about recording, we’re gonna try it out tonight.’ And it was like, we hit the end of the first chorus, and the whole crowd went crazy and cheered, and we were like ‘Oh, OK.’” (laugh)
MATTHEW: “Yeah, yeah, they like this one”
