Seth Ennis knew that his song “Woke Up In Nashville” was different right from the start…and he wanted to be that way. Straight from the writing room to the demo, the song was always meant to emphasize Seth’s voice with the piano accompaniment. It’s that minimalist musical vision which allows the listener to focus on the lyrics, and makes the impact that Seth always wanted for the song a reality.
Seth Ennis talks about the musical structure and vision he had for his song “Woke Up In Nashville.” (:32)
“When we wrote this song originally, all we did for the demo of the song was just a piano vocal that day. It was just a piano vocal, and that’s what hit everybody so hard. It was just impactful. People were like ‘oh my gosh’ and the reason being I think because just with it being that simple, is that it glued people to the lyric of the song, and the melody. I’m really happy with where it’s at, and I love it. I’m just super excited about it, and I love to hear from people that they love it too and that sounds different than anything else and that’s what I was going for. So, I hope it continues to do well.”
