Kane Brown‘s self-titled debut album arrives in stores and online this Friday, December 2nd. It’s been a long road to get to this point for Kane…and that road started in a high school choir class with Lauren Alaina. Lauren and Kane shared the class together, and Kane was still very much a shy kid at that point. Lauren noticed this, and but also took note when Kane did start to hum in class, and when she knew there was something there, she decided to pull his talent out of him…whether he liked it or not. So, one day she wouldn’t let Kane leave choir class until he sang. He did, and that lead to Kane and Lauren doing a duet in the choir. Lauren of course went on to appear on American Idol, and Kane remembers a parade in their hometown for her after she left the show. It was at that parade that Kane got really inspired to think of making music his life too. Now Kane and Lauren are singing together again. Lauren Alaina appears on the song “What Ifs,” which is one of the 11 tracks on Kane’s debut album that also features his single “Thunder In The Rain.” Kane’s self-titled debut album is available this Friday.
Kane Brown remembers getting inspired by classmate Lauren Alaina. (:44)
“I was in choir with Lauren Alaina, and I was always the shy kid in class, and she heard me humming a song one day and she was like ‘no, you need to sing,’ and I said ‘I’m not singing,’ and she was like ‘well, we’re not leaving class until you sing.’ So, like everybody left class and me and her was just sitting in there and the teacher was like ‘what’s going on?’ And she was like ‘I want him to sing.’ And he was like ‘well, you need to sing I guess so y’all can leave.’ So, I ended up singing “I Can Only Imagine” and she was just like ‘see,’ and they made us do like a duet together. And then afterwards she went on to American Idol, and I always thought her voice was incredible. She did so good and they brought her in on a parade so like the whole town was you know praising her and everything. And I was just so happy for her and I was like this is something I want to do.”
