Three decades ago, Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, and Linda Ronstadt made musical history with the release of the Grammy-winning Trio album. The success and reach of the album was so strong that it inspired a 1999 follow-up, Trio II. Now there’s one more release from these iconic female superstars, The Complete Trio Collection. Last week the new three-disc set that ties together remastered versions of the 1987 and 1999 albums, but also includes another disc of rarities and unreleased takes on many of the songs that fans have come to know over the past thirty years hit stores and online. Why now? Well Dolly jokes “we’re not getting any younger, well they’re not getting any younger. I’m not getting any older…we just would love to see that out while we’re still young enough to enjoy it ourselves.” Now, no matter what your age, can check out The Complete Trio Collection.
Dolly Parton talks about the recently released The Complete Trio Collection. (:42)
“We as you know had two trio albums, Trio and then Trio 2, that both did really well years ago. And we realized we had still about twenty songs left in the can, and so we’re not getting any younger, well they’re not getting any younger. I’m not getting any older, (laugh), no but seriously. I don’t know if it had to do with the fact that we just would love to see that out while we’re still young enough to enjoy it ourselves and see that come to be while were still around to enjoy it, and so Emmylou is mainly responsible for putting that all together with the people that she worked with. So I got to credit her for you know pulling all the strings and doing all the dirty work, and so we’re excited about that. It’s called The Complete Trio Collection.”
