Carrie Underwood kicked off the fall leg of The Storyteller Tour – Stories in the Round Wednesday night in Anchorage, Alaska–and she did it as a CMA nominee! Carrie is up for Female Vocalist Of The Year, Musical Event Of The Year with Keith Urban for their song “The Fighter,” Album Of The Year (Storyteller), and Entertainer Of The Year. Carrie joked that the timezone difference between Nashville, where the nominations were announce, and Alaska, where she was performing, meant her waking up to tons of messages of congratulations, and Carrie checking quickly to see the list of nominees. The one award that Carrie is really honored to be in the category for is Entertainer Of The Year, Carrie says that “We’ve been just putting together just the best tours, and worked so hard for a long time and you know I’m specially proud of the Storyteller tour I’m just beyond excited, and I’m humbled, and thankful for that nomination. It’s incredible.” Of course being an nominee isn’t her only job on November 2nd, she will also be co-hosting the CMA Awards show with Brad Paisley for the 9th consecutive year. The CMA Awards will be celebrating their 50th year, when the show airs on ABC on Wednesday, November 2nd, live from Nashville, Tennessee.

“I first got the news about the CMA nominations when I woke up. We’re kicking off the storyteller tour in Alaska, so our time is way behind nominations announcements time, and I was still sleeping when they came out. I knew that they were coming out on Wednesday, and was super duper excited about all of it, but I’d forgotten for that moment and I woke up to all these text messages, and like phone calls, and stuff like that, voice messages, saying congratulations, and I was like ‘Congratulations? What is it?’ And I was trying to find all the nominees, just who got what nominations, and I’m super excited.”
