Carrie Underwood‘s brand new single is at country radio now! “Dirty Laundry” is the fourth song off her Storyteller album–after the first three singles all went to number-one. (“Smoke Break,” “Heartbeat,” and “Church Bells.”) Carrie describes the song as starting out as “a take on a cheater in a familiar way,” but then the song takes a twist when the wife “airs it out for the whole world to see, metaphorically, and literally, airs his dirty laundry out to the world.” Looks like this girl can meet up with the girl from “Before He Cheats”–but hopefully for the husband character there’s not “Two Black Cadillacs” coming down the road.
Carrie Underwood talks about her new single “Dirty Laundry.” (:40)
“’Dirty Laundry’ kind of starts out, this story about the whole…it’s a take on a cheater in a familiar way, with the lipstick on the collar and the red wine and there’s all these tell-tale signs that he was with another woman and it shows on his dirty laundry. But it’s also that she airs it out for the whole world to see, metaphorically, and literally, airs his dirty laundry out to the world – strings it up on the porch. In case you feel like comin’ back, this is gonna be a reminder to you not to do that.”
