Maren Morris is getting her fill of music festivals this week. Not only is she playing at CMA Music Fest, but she’s also appearing this weekend at Bonnaroo. Of course this caps off her album release week that started in New York with appearances on NBC’s Tonight, and Today shows. Maren is sure to be playing plenty of songs from her debut album, Hero at both CMA Fest, and Bonnaroo–like her top ten hit “My Church.”
Maren Morris thinks that CMA Music Fest, and the Bonnaroo Music Festival both fit with her music style. (:36)
“I don’t have to choose between either world, it’s like I get to do CMA fest and Bonnaroo, and I don’t really feel pressure because the people that listen and love my music don’t have to choose between genres, it’s sort of all-encompassing, so a place like Bonnaroo is the perfect place for that, and this year I’m glad that they’re incorporating more country artists because you know it’s not square, country is cool and always has been and I’m glad that they are giving artists like us a chance to get out there and reach those audiences because I think the genre walls come down at festivals like that.”
Maren Morris talks about the music festivals that she’ll get to play this week. (:45)
“When I got the offer to play Bonnaroo, I was ecstatic because I went last year for the first time and I just had the best time. I saw so many artist that I love, and it’s just one of the coolest music festivals to play…I don’t know it just feels so reflective of my music too because I’m doing CMA fest and going to ruin the same week and these two sides of the coin that is me as an artist, and I feel like I get to represent both sides that week. So yeah, I’m just I’m so excited to hang with the country fans, and then the Bonnaroo peeps. It’s just gonna be a blast, and the Keith tour is sandwiched in between those two performances so it’s just gonna be a fun week all around.”
