Brad Paisley has had the opportunity to meet, and work with several musical legends–and each time Brad gets that chance, he tries to make sure that he appreciates the moment, and learns as much as he can from these older figures–much the same way he did with his grandfather. Brad says that he’s “always gravitated towards these legends”–because one of the most influential people in his life when Brad was growing up, was his grandfather. And Brad admits, that getting close to this iconic artists might be a way of trying to create a similar bond.

“I’ve definitely always gravitated towards these legends and these guys that, you know I think it’s probably a bond with a grandfather. The most influential person in my life really was my grandfather growing up, and I think maybe there’s some sort of psychological thing that I’m always trying to replace that with these guys. Jimmy (Dickins) became a member of the family. Getting to know Buck Owens especially the same way. These guys that I adore that there’s just so much to be learned from these guys. If anything, I want to know what they’re like. There are not many I haven’t had a chance to sort of get to know like that. I really try to make the most of these opportunities with people like that, that are influential in my life.”
