“Mayday” singer Cam leads the field with the most female nominations at this year’s ACM Awards, with nods for New Female Vocalist of The Year, and Single Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year and Video Of The Year–for her number-one smash-hit “Burning House.” The Single & Song categories bring nominations for Cam as artist and songwriter, which raises her total to 6. Cam will also be performing on the ACM Awards, which air Sunday April 3rd on CBS TV.
Cam is always blown away when fans relate to her how “Burning House” touched them. (:17)
“It’s wild, just how many cover videos you see of people singing it. How many people come up to me after shows and tell me…really kind of…it’s an intense song, and so people when they relate to it, they have usually an intense story of what it means to them in their own life.”
While the fans connected to the song, Cam also feels that “Burning House” got a lot of support from the Country music community. (:17)
“I feel like also the country music community was kind of rooting for this song, and that’s really endearing, that feels really nice to kind of have everybody excited about, something that’s a ballad, that probably wasn’t everyone’s first choice for a summer hit. But it just…yeah, everyone kind of cheered it on.”
Cam still marvels at the reaction “Burning House” received from fans while she was out on the Brad Paisley tour. (:14)
“I just wrapped up the Brad Paisley tour, and every night there’s a stadium full of people with their lights on their phones holding out…there’s like a sea of stars, and they’re all screaming every single word to this song. And it’s just surreal.”
