- This week, Old Dominion officially hit the radio airwaves with their second single, “Snapback,” pulling in a tremendous 126 first-week chart-reporting stations playing the new song!
– In response to the news, Old Dominion’s Matthew Ramsey remarked, “Picking a second single was kind of nerve-wracking. We felt like ‘Snapback’ was the right choice, but it’s really just a guess. You never know what’s going to connect. The overwhelming support radio and the fans have shown for ‘Snapback’ right out of the gate is something we never saw coming. Now it really feels like we made the right choice!” - In a press release this week about Old Dominion and their new “Snapback” single, Randy Goodman, the Chairman and CEO of Sony Music Nashville — home to Old Dominion’s record label RCA — said, “What I’ve learned in working in this business is that great things happen to great artists. If the artist is great at what they do, they rise, and rise fast. This has been evident with what is happening with this band. You take great songwriting, an energetic and captivating live show and combine it with five unique individuals who have a grasp of who they are and where they want to go, and you get Old Dominion. I am so excited to see what happens in the next 12 months, not to mention the many months after that.”
- Last year, Old Dominion captured video of a live performance of “Snapback” in concert in Boston — check it out below!
- “Break up with Him” and their new single “Snapback” are both featured on Old Dominion’s acclaimed full-length debut album, titled Meat and Candy.
Old Dominion’s Matthew Ramsey says that the number-one success of “Break up with Him” is all the more special because the band members wrote the song together. (:23)
“I think it’s extra special that all five of us wrote this song, too. Like, it’s the only one…it’s the only one that we’ve completed, so far. We got a lot of starts, but, I don’t know…it’s just somethin’ extra special to have us all be a part of this song and watch it go up the charts, and we could all feel those feelings — there wasn’t somebody that was left out or whatever. It was very special for us to start the whole thing off like this. I still can’t believe it went to number one.”
