“I think I’ve been excited about every record I’ve ever done. I just know that with this record, no one has to wind me up to get excited about talkin’ about it. I don’t need any incentive. I’m just so, so pumped about what we did in the studio and for people to hear it that, yeah, man, I’m a little giddy. I’ll take that.”

audio  Chris Young says that his I’m Comin’ Over album represents a creative step forward for him. (:22)
“I just feel like this record was a time for me to take a step forward. It was a time for it to be different, and change stuff. I don’t think anything that we changed on this record was just for the sake of change, goin’, ‘Man, we gotta do something different.’ It was, ‘Man, it feels like it’s time to do this, to take this step.’ Everything just kind of naturally went where it was supposed to go.”

audio  Chris Young says that each new album is about striking a balance. (:32)
“It is a balancing act, every time you make a record. We’ve got four albums full of music that people know me by. And then there’s a whole bunch of people that don’t know me. So I’m tryin’ to pull in new people to become fans and to go, ‘Man, I love what that guy does, I love his music, I love his sound.’ Tryin’ to evolve it, a little bit, but also tryin’ to bring everybody with me from the first four records. I want to be able to play all this stuff in the same show. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t need to change. It just means it needs to change in the right way.”

audio  Chris Young is proud to be releasing his fifth album where it all began for him: RCA Records. (:52)
“It feels really good to say that I’ve released five records. Much less that I just finished my fifth record, but that they’ve all been with one label. That was really cool for me. You know, there’s a lot of people that might not even get to four records much less five, much less them all bein’ with the same group of people, the same building, the same organization, the same name on the back of the CD. You know, the same (laughs)…if you’re lookin’ at it on your phone, the very same RCA Records. Just having that on there is special to me, and on top of that, of all of what I’ve just said, I turned it in on my 30th birthday. I signed my record deal before I turned 21, and the day I turned 30, I turned in my fifth record, I’m Comin’ Over, to my record label. It’s just pretty special, pretty unbelievable.”
