Cam talks about being surprised with the news that “Burning House” has become her first RIAA-certified Gold record. (:27)
“First off, I felt like crying, a little bit (laughs) because, man, I’ve been running around a ton, and I’m definitely tired from working really hard to support this record, and I didn’t really want to come in to Sony on my day off (laughs), but it was a big surprise to have this Gold record. That ‘Burning House’ has touched enough people that now it’s Gold is just…it’s just so insane.”
Cam says that earning her first RIAA Gold record is a reflection of how much people have come to care about “Burning House.” (:25)
“People really care about this record. I don’t know…I can see it in people’s faces when I play it live that they all have this, like, sad face. They’ve all been there. And so everyone’s sharing this, like, emotional moment, and I feel like that’s kind of what this represents: this Gold record represents that this is like a real feeling that I had, and it’s a real feeling that everybody has. It’s really nice; it feels less lonely.” (laughs)
