Newcomer Cam has this week’s hottest new single at country radio with her song, “Burning House.” It’s a beautiful and very personal song that Cam co-wrote, inspired by wanting to apologize to an ex over a break-up that she wished she’d handled differently. And Cam says that the song has already led to one especially poignant moment with a fan. (AUDIO INFO BELOW)
- “Burning House” is featured on Cam’s digital album, Welcome to Cam Country — EP, which also includes her debut single, “My Mistake.” You can find it at your favorite digital music store, including Apple Music.
- Perez Hilton is digging on Cam and “Burning House” in a big way with a July 8th post saying, “It’s official! Cam is our favorite new country singer of 2015!” Perez goes on to call “Burning House” “one of the prettiest songs we have heard all year! … Exquisite melody! Great lyrics! - Cam continues to earn critical acclaim for her Welcome to Cam Country – EP, with SPIN recently touting, “Her voice has some twang, and her songwriting is first-rate, with surprising musical range over the four tracks of her debut EP. The emotional range is as wide any album with ten more tracks to boot….” Nice!
- In a press release about “Burning House,” Cam said, in part, “This song has had a life of its own since the day we finished writing it. ‘Burning House’ is really a hard song to sing because it’s such a heavy, personal subject for me. But I think the more vulnerable you feel about your lyrics, the more likely it is that you are saying something that needs to be said.”

Cam recalls an emotional connection with a fan who was touched by “Burning House.” (:46)
“I remember playing it at one show, and a girl came up, and she said, ‘Oh, my God, I cried during “Burning House,”‘ which is a normal thing to hear, and I went to give her a hug, and she said, ‘My burning house is here. He’s right over there, and he’s with another girl.’ And I, I wanted to cry for her ’cause I knew exactly what she meant. Like, we’ve never met before, but because she heard this song, now we know how each other feels on such a really deep level like you don’t…you talk to a couple friends maybe about how that goes. And now, me and this girl, you know, have that connection on such a deep level. It’s nothing short of phenomenal that music can connect people in that way. That’s why music exists in all cultures everywhere in the world because it’s just somethin’ else.”
