Logan Mize’s Pawn Shop Guitar — EP had its title inspired by the times when Logan was in and out of pawn shops trying to make ends meet in Nashville. (:26)
“Pawn Shop Guitar is the title of the EP, and it’s the first line of the second verse of ‘Thank God for You,’ but Pawn Shop Guitar has got a deeper meaning for me just because sitting here talking about songs that I wrote, I thought 9, 10 years ago when I moved to Nashville, you know, that was a thing that was just a dream. I basically lived at the pawn shop tryin’ to make sure I had a guitar to get to my gig for 30 bucks on a Wednesday afternoon.”
Logan Mize recalls playing one of his pawn shop guitars at a Nashville gig where he met his future wife. (:18)
“It’s a true story, man. I had a pawn shop guitar that I traded a set of golf clubs for when I was at Paradise Park on a Wednesday afternoon on St. Patrick’s Day 2009, and that’s where I met my wife and her family was down there. So (laughs), yeah, true story.”
