With their debut single, “Break up with Him,” five-man band Old Dominion is making a name for itself, but the guys have already been establishing themselves as big-time songwriters. Among their successes, various band members have co-written two recent number-one hits — Tyler Farr’s “A Guy Walks into a Bar” and Dierks Bentley’s “Say You Do” — as well as Blake Shelton’s current smash, “Sangria.” It’s a level of success that Old Dominion’s Trevor Rosen says feels mighty nice. Old Dominion’s Trevor Rosen talks about the band members’ success as songwriters, including a trio of recent smash singles. (:18)
“Well, yeah, that’s cool because we were songwriters first, and we really moved to Nashville to hone that craft, and we care a lot about that process, so havin’ the success as songwriters, I mean, we’re proud of that. And you know, it’s also helped the band, too. It’s helped sort of snowball things for us, so both things go hand in hand. It’s been exciting.”
