“If I was tryin’ to pitch it to somebody else and say, ‘This is why you should listen to it,’ I think it’s got a really, really cool melody; topically, it’s somethin’ that everybody’s been through — whether they’re goin’ through it now or they went through it in the past (laughs) — I think that they can relate to it, and honestly, we tried to take the production sound of what you would normally hear on the radio: I always have steel guitar on everything, so that obviously pulls it a little bit left, as far as, like, towards the more traditional side, and then we did some stuff that some of the drum pocket and bass lines and beats and stuff is what you would normally hear on, like, an R&B record. So, we really tried to blend that and make it somethin’ that stands out and has its own sound.”
