Trisha Yearwood released her new cookbook, Trisha’s Table, this past Tuesday, and while Trisha loves cooking, she admits that when it comes to special occasions or get-togethers with friends and family, her reputation for dishing up tasty treats has in some ways become as formidable as her reputation as one of country music’s greatest female vocalists. “I have a fairly controlling nature anyway, so I’m kind of that girl that’s like, ‘I got this, I’m in the kitchen, I got this.’ The thing that is painting me into a corner is that people expect it to always be incredible and always be perfect, and, ‘Oh yeah, Trisha’s gonna want to do all the cooking.’ And I’m a cook, I’m not a chef; sometimes things don’t turn out. And then the other side of that coin is if someone else is cooking, now they’re all of a sudden nervous: ‘Oh, Trisha’s comin’ over.’ And I’m like, ‘Don’t be…that’s not the way this works.’ You know? It’s like, ‘Do I need to go through all the epic fails I’ve had in the kitchen for you not to feel…to not worry about it?’ But yeah, I mean, I do often get the ‘well, Trisha must be cooking,’ but I love to do it, so it’s not that bad, not that big a deal.”
