Cam talks about the beginnings of her song, “My Mistake.” (:33)
“I started the chorus when I knew a relationship was ending. So the first half of the chorus was ‘just another heartache in waiting,’ like, things that were coming — I knew what was coming. And then the last line, I sort of added — which wasn’t based on real life — but I added that ‘but he’s my mistake to make all night’ sort of in effort to have ownership over what was going on, and that I was playing a part in this whole thing, whether it was gonna go well or be a mistake, and that’s normally the scariest part for me.”
