Kenny Chesney has another huge hit on his hands with his current smash, the song “Til It’s Gone.” It’s from his album The Big Revival — a project that prompted Kenny to take a year off from touring just to focus on the music. And Kenny says that “Til It’s Gone” is a song that’s very much a reflection of the kind of message that he wanted to be able to share with his fans. (AUDIO INFO BELOW)
- “Til It’s Gone” is the second hit from Kenny’s album The Big Revival, which also features the chart-topping “American Kids,” which recently earned a GRAMMY® Award nomination for Best Country Song for writers Rodney Clawson, Luke Laird, and Shane McAnally.
- Incidentally, songwriter Rodney Clawson also had a hand in “Til It’s Gone,” penning the song with fellow tunesmiths David Lee Murphy and Jimmy Yeary.
Kenny Chesney says that there’s a message in his latest hit single, “Til It’s Gone.” (:56)
“‘Til It’s Gone’ was recorded specifically for the people in our audience. Now, it’s written about a male/female — you know, and it’s this slice of life in their relationship. But if you really think about it, David Lee Murphy is one of the writers on ‘Til It’s Gone,’ and I had a conversation with him about my year off, about us writing some songs, and more importantly about going back out on the road. And he goes, ‘Well, what do you want to say to them when you go out there?’ And I thought about that. Okay, imagine me, my first night in 2015: very first show, very first night. And there I am at the edge of the stage, and here’s my audience. And I haven’t seen them in a while. What do I want to say to ’em? And it’s a legitimate point and a fair question. And I heard ‘Til It’s Gone,’ and that’s it. I mean, if you think about it, this song was about someone else, you know, but if you take that away, and add thousands of people, this song fits.”
