One of the hot items for music lovers this holiday season will be out tomorrow with the release of Carrie Underwood’s Greatest Hits: Decade #1! True to its title, it’s a 25-song collection that spans all 18 of Carrie’s number-one hits from the first 10 years of her career, as well as four songs in never-before-released versions and two brand-new songs, including Carrie’s latest GRAMMY®-nominated smash, “Something in the Water.” And for Carrie, the chance to release an album like this is truly an amazing feeling. - On Friday, Carrie was nominated for a pair of GRAMMY Awards! In response to the news, she tweeted, “Congratulations to all the nominees for the @TheGRAMMYs I’m so thankful and honored to be among them!” Carrie’s nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “Somethin’ Bad” with Miranda Lambert, and she up for Best Country Solo Performance for “Something in the Water,” from Greatest Hits: Decade #1!
- Carrie says that there was a real excitement in the room as she and her co-writers were creating her GRAMMY-nominated single, “Something in the Water.” (AUDIO INFO BELOW)
- Another part of what’s special about Carrie’s Greatest Hits: Decade #1 is the inclusion of three songwriting worktapes: recordings of “So Small,” “Last Name,” and “Mama’s Song” that were made literally as the songs were being written. “I wanted to do something different with extras,” Carrie says about sharing those recordings. “Part of what’s fun is we mess up all over them: I’m not perfectly on key because it’s the first time I’ve ever sung the song, people are talking or jumping in on things, and it’s just kind of an awesome mess, but I’m really excited for people to have another view to what we do and to share the experience of hearing those songs first come to life.”
- As part of her album-release week, Carrie will be performing on this evening’s Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, as well as Tuesday morning on NBC’s Today show. You can also watch for her as she talks about the new album — as well as her new fitness apparel line, CALIA by Carrie Underwood (available exclusively through DICK’S Sporting Goods, beginning in March) — in a Tuesday visit with Hoda and Kathie Lee in Today’s fourth hour, and in appearances on The Talk on December 10th and Rachael Ray on December 12th.
- Be sure to tune-in for Carrie in a one-on-one interview with Headline Country’s Storme Warren in the episode premiering this Thursday, December 11th, on GAC.

Carrie Underwood says that it’s a little surreal to get to have her own greatest hits album. (:38)
“It’s kind of crazy to think that I’m putting out a greatest hits album. I remember, you know, as a kid just being so excited whenever somebody would come out with a greatest hits because it was all my favorites (laughs) in one little package, you know? And I’m honored that I’ve had that much love and support over the past 10 years that I get to do that, that I get to have one. So, hopefully we can just keep doin’ what we’re doin’, and you know, maybe…(laughs) maybe 10 years from now, it’ll be like ‘Decade #2’! That’ll be crazy! It’s too far away, but I’m definitely…I’m excited, and I’m honored that I get to do that.”
Carrie Underwood talks about her GRAMMY-nominated smash, “Something in the Water,” one of two new songs on her Greatest Hits: Decade #1. (:37)
“I knew while we were writing ‘Something in the Water’ that we really had something special. There’s not too many songs that I can say that because when you’re so close to something, you don’t even really know it’s good until you, like, get the demo back, and then it’s like, ‘Whoa! I kind of dismissed that, you know, during that day, and this sounds incredible.’ This was one that as it was happening, like, I was recording stuff on my phone like, ‘Oh my gosh, let’s do it again; like, I can make that better; we can do this better,’ and it was just one of those that it was exciting in the room, it was electric in the room, and we knew it was special, for sure.”
Carrie Underwood says that she feels very blessed in her career. (:35)
“It’s really weird to think that it’s been 10 years since I tried out for American Idol, and so much has happened since then. In some ways it feels like it was a million years ago, and in some ways it feels like it was just yesterday. Either way, I know I’m blessed, and I’m so happy that, you know, I still get to do what I love and still feel like I’m contributing to music, and it’s definitely contributing to my life for sure, so, I’m excited to see what the next 10 years hold.”
