Kenny Chesney is rocketing up the charts with his new smash single, “American Kids,” the first music from Kenny’s upcoming album, The Big Revival, set for release on September 23rd. And while Kenny’s excited about getting his new album out to the fans, he says that another thing he’s really looking forward to is getting to play “American Kids” in concert. (AUDIO INFO BELOW)
- News hit on Wednesday that Kenny’s playing a free show on August 16th, and when the RSVP portal opened this morning, wristbands for the fenced-in beach area of Kenny’s Flora-Bama-Jama were gone in less than five minutes! The concert will take place at the Flora-Bama Lounge, a bar with a beach on Perdido Key, where Orange Beach and Gulf Shores meet on the border of Alabama and Florida. About the show, Kenny said in press releases this week:
– “I’ve been holed up making a record for the last year… and anyone who knows me knows how much I miss playing, miss the fans, but especially miss the culture the people who love this music bring with them. Obviously, this isn’t going to be one of those huge shows we do, but it’s gonna be a long day, a whole lotta music and even more fun.”
– “To me, a place like the Flora-Bama is all about kicking back, being with your friends and not worrying about a thing… Just hang out and be easy. I love that it’s on a border, that it’s on a beach, that it’s like the best bar anywhere people get together and just be! It’s everything the notion of The Big Revival is built on: taking that time to regroup, replenish then re-engage with the passion of being truly, absolutely alive.”
– “There are a few places that have the vibe, but not many bring together everything that – to me – makes for a great time: the beach, room to hang out, nowhere to hurry, lots of friends you don’t know yet – and an environment that says, ‘Come! Have a good time!’ The Flora-Bama has all that, and more… and getting out on that beach to play is gonna be awesome. I’m already psyched to know this is really happening.” - Kenny’s upcoming 15th studio album, The Big Revival, was produced by Kenny with longtime collaborator Buddy Cannon and features guest appearances by Alison Krauss, Dan Tyminski, and Grace Potter.

“You know, all the songs that I’ve had out recently and through the years, and as much as we work hard in putting our show together, it’s fun to have a melody that you may not have had before. You know? It was kind of the same way I felt about ‘Somewhere with You’ when that first came out, you know? I knew exactly where I was gonna put that song in the show and how it was gonna make our show a little bit different, with a few more twists and turns, and I feel that way about ‘American Kids.’ But again, if you ask me where I’m gonna put it right now I couldn’t tell you, but I promise you it’s gonna be in there, and it’s just such a fun summer song. It’s going to be a song that I feel like that is gonna be a part of our life for a long time. And you know, I can’t wait to see how it comes across, you know, and it’s always great to put a new song out and to see that song affect people and to see them have fun with it, and to see them – not just that, but to see them actually live their life with it, and it’s gonna be fun to see what kind of effect it has on the crowd.”
