CARRIE UNDERWOOD: Emmy Awards Performance!

audio

It was announced today that Carrie Underwood will deliver a special performance this weekend as part of Sunday’s airing of The 65th Emmy® Awards! The show will honor the 50th anniversary of key television milestones, with actor Don Cheadle presenting a tribute to television’s role in the coverage of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963, which was followed just 80 days later by the landmark performance of The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show. Carrie is set to honor the music of the era with her performance, and as she told us not long ago, Carrie always feels very privileged by the extraordinary opportunities that come her way. • Be sure to tune-in for The 65th Emmy® Awards this Sunday, September 22nd, at 8pm, ET, on CBS.
  • Earlier this week, more cast members were announced to join Carrie when she plays Maria in NBC’s three-hour live production of The Sound of Music. A trio of Tony Award winners will be a part of the cast, including stage veterans Audra McDonald as Mother Abbess, Laura Benanti as Elsa Schrader, and Christian Borle as Max Dettweiler. And as previously announced, actor Stephen Moyer will play the role of Captain Georg Von Trapp. The Sound of Music will air December 5th on NBC.
  • Amid her busy schedule, Carrie will also be co-hosting ABC’s airing of The 47th Annual CMA Awards with Brad Paisley on November 6th. Carrie is a triple nominee this year, up for Female Vocalist of the Year, Music Video of the Year (for “Blown Away”), and Album of the Year for her hit-filled Blown Away collection, home to four consecutive number-one hits, including her recent smash, “See You Again.”

“Well, people always ask me, you know, ‘What are your goals? What’s next? What have you set your sights on?’ And I can’t. I can’t set my sights on anything. I just roll with it and see what doors open, and, you know, do my best at everything that I do, and things like Sunday Night Football come up, things like Sound of Music come up. Things like, like that, just massive, awesome opportunities present themselves, and things I never, I never could have imagined myself being a part of. So, I am a very lucky lady, for sure, and can’t wait to just see what doors open up next.”
