Chris Young talks about some of his goals for his new A.M. album. (:53)
“I would be lying if I said that at some point…you know, I’ve been lucky enough to have a Gold record that at some point I don’t want a Platinum one. There’s definitely a lot more goals for me to reach and a lot of things that I need to achieve as an artist I think that are left on the board for me. There’s a lot of things left for me to do — and I think this record’s just another step in that direction. I think one of the things that I’ve always done before is have at least one or two fun tempos, but they’ve never been the songs picked as singles. And I really went out of my way to make the tempos on this record stand out. It’s why we led with ‘Aw Naw.’ And I think that’s probably the most important thing that I did on this record that makes it different from what I’ve done in the past. And it’s fun. I mean, I just had a lot of fun makin’ this record. You listen to it top to bottom, and I think you can tell.”
Chris Young says that he got some good-natured teasing around his recent hospitalization. (:28) (note content)
“I’m still in the hospital, and people are like, ‘Aw naw!’ So it’s like, that was funny. I was crackin’ up readin’ stuff, and of course, like, all of my friends are the friends that are like, ‘Are you okay?’ and then laugh at you. So, I had one of my buddies text me, and he goes, ‘Dude, are you okay?’ I was like, ‘Yeah, they should be movin’ me out of the ICU tomorrow,’ and he went, ‘Damn! I had a whole bunch of your stuff that I was gonna unload if you weren’t doin’ so hot.’ (laughs) I was like, ‘Thank you, I really appreciate that. I’m glad you care.'”
