Congratulations to Carrie Underwood, who earned three nominations this week for the upcoming CMA Awards! Carrie’s up for Female Vocalist of the Year, Album of the Year — for her hit-filled Blown Away album — and Music Video of the Year for the song, “Blown Away.” And as Carrie told us awhile back, award nominations always make for a very special kind of pat on the back. - Carrie’s not just a nominee, as she and Brad Paisley return as co-hosts for the sixth consecutive year when The 47th Annual CMA Awards airs live from Nashville on November 6th on ABC.
- Carrie has an amazingly busy few months ahead, including not only preparations for co-hosting the CMA Awards, but also gearing up for her gutsy role as Maria in NBC’s three-hour live TV presentation of The Sound of Music, set to air on December 5th!
- Carrie’s incredible Blown Away album, up for CMA Album of the Year, has launched four back-to-back number-one singles, including the title track, as well as “Two Black Cadillacs,” “Good Girl,” and “See You Again.”
Carrie Underwood talks about award show nominations. (:30)
“It’s just a lot of reinforcement when you get nominations, you know, from award shows, ’cause you still want to…you still want people to be excited about what you’re doing. I’m excited about what I’m doing, but you know, if nobody’s there to check it out or go see it or go buy it or go watch it or listen to it, I mean I guess it doesn’t matter how excited (laughs) I am about it. So it’s really nice to kind of get those…you know, awards aren’t everything, but they do make you feel good.”
