• Kenny Chesney has announced his own brand of rum! Officially available in May, Kenny’s Blue Chair Bay Rum will come in three varieties: Coconut, Coconut Spiced, and a premium White Rum. In an announcement, Kenny said, “…rum is what I drink, and I always told myself: if I was going to do this, I wanted to create something I could be really proud of! Not just take a check and a piece of a company, but make the rum I truly wanted to drink.” The process led Kenny to Barbados and master blender Mike Booth at one of the Caribbean’s oldest rum distilleries, and Kenny says that everything leading up to this launch has been well worth it. “You know me, when I get my heart set on doing something, I will give it my complete attention. I didn’t know I was building a company or making a rum until I was waist deep, but I’m glad we did. I think anyone who enjoys rum is gonna love this.”
• It was also announced this week that Kenny has partnered with Costa to introduce five new, limited-edition sunglass styles inspired by Kenny. Available while supplies last at Costa retail partners, as well as online, the sale of each pair results in a $5 donation to the Coastal Conservation Agency, a grassroots advocacy association focused on ocean and coastal conservation programs. And it can be playin’ the music too loud, drivin’ a little too fast, taking a long weekend when you really need it — and that’s the point of ‘Pirate Flag.’ And it’s about those things and taking them to the limit, and pushing it really hard, like we do on stage. And that’s what me and the band do. You know? And I think that when we do that, the fans give it back to us even harder. You know, we try to push the limits, on stage, every night.”
