Jake Owen is gearing-up for impending fatherhood, and among the blessings for which Jake is grateful as we approach this Thanksgiving is not only his lovely wife Lacey and their daughter-on-the-way — who’ll be called Pearl — but also his new extended family, including Lacey’s dad. Jake says that between his dad and Lacey’s, he now has two great men to learn from when it comes to being a good father — but Jake admits that no matter what, Pearl will definitely be daddy’s little girl. - The November 19th issue of US Weekly includes an item about Jake and Lacey, where they talk about nursery preparations and their color choice of olive green. And while the couple wanted to give their daughter something beyond the traditional pink, the choice also seems coincidental, since baby Pearl’s first name will be Olive. Look for the write-up in the issue of US that’s on stands now.
- Jake is currently soaring on the charts with his smash, “The One That Got Away” — the follow-up to his back-to-back number-one hits, “Alone with You” and “Barefoot Blue Jean Night,” all from Jake’s Barefoot Blue Jean Night album.
- Look for Jake in concert now, headlining CMT ON TOUR JAKE OWEN: THE SUMMER NEVER ENDS 2012, with special guests Love and Theft and Florida Georgia Line.
Jake Owen is grateful for the two dads who are there to help him learn to be a great father. (:59)
“I’ll definitely be the guy that babies his little girl. You only grow up once, and I want my little girl to look back and think how great a dad I was. And I told my wife something, you know? When I first met her father, I was a bit intimidated by him, but also I was a bit turned off in the sense where I wanted him to be more friendly to me and buddy-buddy, and he was tryin’ to prove a point in a sense like, I’m not your buddy: I’m the father of this girl you’re about to marry. And I need to know that you’re gonna respect her, and I need to know that you’re gonna love her and take care of her the way that I have loved her and taken care of her, her entire life. And once I understood where he was comin’ from, and once he understood where I was comin’ from, we have hit it off, and he has become one of the great, great additions to my life that I really need. I mean, he does a lot of things different than my dad. And so I have two dads now. I have my father, and I have my father-in-law. And I get to learn from both of them in order for me to be the best father I can be.”
