Big congratulations go out to Chris Young this week as his latest single, “You,” tops the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart to become his fifth consecutive number-one hit in a row! It’s an impressive accomplishment, placing Chris alongside Blake Shelton as the only two solo artists in country music to reach number-one with their five most recent singles! Needless to say, Chris is thrilled that the fans have embraced “You” in such a big way, and as the second single from his NEON album, Chris tells us he thought “You” made a great follow-up to his previous hit, “Tomorrow.” (AUDIO INFO BELOW)
- On hitting number-one with “You,” Chris shared, “I am ecstatic. I’ve been excited for each number-one and to have five in a row feels amazing!”
- Chris has been enjoying a lot of good news lately, earning a pair of ACM Award nominations last week! Chris Young talks about his fifth consecutive number-one hit, “You.” (:34)
“As simple as this song is, it’s kind of got this really cool groove to it, and I was so excited that we went with this one because it is different, I think, than some of the other songs that I’ve had out. It’s definitely different when you listen to it back-to-back with ‘Tomorrow,’ where ‘Tomorrow’ is this big power-ballad love song, ‘You’ is almost kind of this fun, kind of like an R&B slash country feel on a song. And I got to use my falsetto on the song, got to play around a little bit vocally, and I just love everything about it. I’m excited people are gettin’ into it.”
