Growing up, Miranda Lambert says that the music that often appealed to her was music that reached for something different. (:43)
“I loved all country, you know? I loved from Patty Loveless to Faith, Shania — I mean, Sara Evans. I’ve been…and then I also had the pop side, you know, Beyoncé, Destiny’s Child. (laughs) I was lovin’ people that had somethin’ different, you know, that did somethin’ a little bit different. And when…like when Faith did the pop album — the Cry record — I just thought it was great. I mean, I thought it was…her singin’ was cool, and it was somethin’ different I’d never heard from little ol’ country Faith Hill, you know? And Shania obviously broke all kinds of records and barriers with her music. So, just, you know, those aren’t necessarily my musical influences, of course, but they’re influences to me as far as what they did later on in their careers versus when they started.”
