KENNY CHESNEY AND JAKE OWEN: Hurricane Irene

With Hurricane Irene moving toward the U.S. and threatening the East Coast later this week, Jake Owen‘s native Florida looks to be mostly spared the brunt of the storm, but Jake knows what it’s like to live with that ongoing risk of dangerous weather, and he’s holding good thoughts for everyone in the path of the storm. (AUDIO INFO BELOW)

One effect of the threat of Hurricane Irene — forecast by the U.S. National Hurricane Center to possibly reach New England on Sunday — is Kenny Chesney‘s rescheduling of his August 28th concert to August 26th at Foxboro, Massachusetts’ Gillette Stadium. Kenny remarked, “I want the last weekend of the ‘Goin’ Coastal’ Tour to be a great experience for everybody. But I also want it to be the safest experience for everyone. I’ve always said Foxboro is a highlight of our tour, because the fans are ready for a great night of music and fun no matter what night it is!” All tickets for Sunday will be honored for Friday, with the line-up and set times remaining the same. Refunds are available at point of purchase for any fans unable to attend Friday’s show.

KENNY CHESNEY AND JAKE OWEN: Hurricane Irene  As a Florida native, Jake Owen understands what it’s like to live where the threat of hurricanes is part of life. (:30)
“It’s funny now that I don’t live in Florida anymore, the only time I hear about hurricanes and stuff like that is if my mom calls me and tells me one’s comin’. So I don’t seem to watch The Weather Channel like I did growin’ up down there. You seem…man, growin’ up in Florida, you seem to watch The Weather Channel all the time. You just don’t know, like, when somethin’s comin’. If you have a hurricane starts comin’, you gotta start packin’, not only your clothes and everything to head out and go to get some refuge, but you gotta board up your windows on the house. It’s just a big pain, so, hurricanes are just not fun at all, and they’re really devastating, so I’ve got my fingers crossed.”
