It’s a good thing that Chris Young is good-natured about his age. Chris says that people always think he’s older than he really is — and maybe it’s that amazing voice — but whatever the reason, when Chris turns 26 years old this Sunday, June 12th, he smiles that he’ll still be easygoing about that “older” thing…at least for a while.   Chris Young says that people always seem to think he’s older than he really is (he turns 26 on Sunday). (:18)
“I’m surprised to see how many people are like, ‘There’s no way you’re 26. You’ve got to be…,’ like, people always guess older for some reason. So, I don’t really mind (laughs) people thinkin’ I’m older for a little while. I guess that’ll probably start gettin’…people have warned me that that might start gettin’ to me here in about, you know, five, ten years. I’ll start wantin’ people to guess younger.”

  Chris Young’s birthday falls during the CMA Music Festival, so there’s always a ready-made party in town. (:13)
“We always have a party built in. This’ll be the first time in I think six years, seven years that I’ve actually been off on my birthday. So I think I’m actually gonna do…I’m gonna take a day off (laughs) once we get to that point.”

“If I’ve got to have birthday cake, yellow cake, chocolate icing is probably one of my favorites. My grandmother made one for my producer, James Stroud, the last time we made a record, and it was really funny because he actually…that’s his favorite type of cake, and he requested it, and then he let…I think I was the only person that got a piece. I think he ate the rest of it (laughs) by himself. So, he was kind of hoarding it, but it was really, really good, so I’ll go with that.”
