After a year off from touring, Kenny Chesney hits the road in a big way next Thursday! The “Goin’ Coastal” Tour kicks off March 17th in West Palm Beach, Florida — the same place where Kenny launched his first headlining tour a decade ago. Kenny’s bringing opening acts Billy Currington and Uncle Kracker out with him on the tour — and for the 11 stadium dates, Kenny welcomes Zac Brown Band as his co-headliner. Looking to add a little extra bang for the buck, Kenny and Zac have been working on making the stadium shows a truly unique concert experience for the fans. The term “super band” has been used…and knowing Kenny, it’s sure to be something that will have the fans talking for a long time. Kenny and Zac debut the “super band” on Saturday, March 19th, at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. (AUDIO INFO BELOW)

Kenny Chesney and Zac Brown talk about what they plan to bring to the fans. (:53) (note content)
KC: “It feels good to play music again, after bein’ off for a while. And it’s been very inspiring. It’s been a lot of fun, been awesome to collaborate with great musicians. And I think that what we’re gonna do in Tampa is gonna set the tone for the rest of the year. I mean, I really believe that. We’re…and Zac and I are in there kind of, you know, workin’ through the things we’re gonna do together, and we just kind of get a little, you know…we’ll catch each other grinnin’ at each other ’cause we know this is gonna be really fun for us and the fans and everybody involved, man.”
ZB: “Kenny’s always takin’ care of his fans and always puts on a hell of a show. And we pride ourselves in doin’ the same thing, but bringin’ everything together the way that we’re doin’, and really, this is a show for the fans. I mean, this is a chance for us to, you know…we’ve been workin’ it out at rehearsal, grindin’ it out, gettin’ everything together so we’ll all be tight as one big ‘super band’ for the last parts of the show, and we got something really special for the fans.”
KC: “Yeah.”
ZB: “Something that I’ve never seen before.”
Kenny Chesney wants fans to have a unique experience when they see him with Zac Brown Band. (:17)
“We talked about workin’ together and talked about goin’ out there. And we didn’t want it to be just one more show that people come to see. And we worked really hard tryin’ to be sure that they leave there goin’, ‘Wow, I’m really glad that I went through everything I had to go through to experience that.’”
Kenny Chesney says that the “super band” aspect of the stadium shows is a first for him. (:62)
KC: “It’s gettin’ really exciting for me and the band. And Zac’s guys are so great. I mean, they are really a great band, and to be able to collaborate like this together that way…we’ve never done this in our show in 17 years I’ve been on the road. We’ve never done this. And it’s a lot of fun, you know, and we’ve done it a little bit, but we’ve never made it a part of our show. And to be able to do this for the fans and to be able to have them experience it, you know, it’s just gonna be, I hope I think I speak for everybody that I think it’s gonna be a really special night of music, you know, especially with what they’re doin’, too.”
ZB: “The whole crew, you know, that’s around Kenny, all the guys and everything, I mean, we’re all already, you know, fast friends and brothers with everybody in there that we’ve been, you know, hangin’ out with. We got a good chemistry with everybody playin’ together, and you know, it’s old school. We got two drums sets, a full stereo band. I mean, two full bands playin’ together, and it’s worked out, and it’s gonna be powerful; it’s gonna be good. They’re gonna definitely get their money’s worth, and, you know, super serve ’em. That’s what we’re workin’ on doin’.”
Kenny Chesney knows that his fans are going to be very happy with Zac Brown Band at the stadium shows. (:27)
KC: “Thing that I like about Zac and their music is that it’s very, very relatable. Musically, it’s incredible, but the songs are very relatable; they’re a lot of fun. I can’t tell you how many people have told me, when they say, ‘Who are you gonna play music with this summer,’ I tell ’em Zac, and they’re like, ‘Wow,’ you know (laughs), they’re really excited! I mean, family, friends…”
ZB: “Good.”
KC: “…whoever, I mean, it’s…it was over the top.”
Zac Brown shares that he’s been a fan of Kenny Chesney for a long time. (:28)
“I’ve been a fan of Kenny’s forever. I mean, grew up grindin’ out in bars like he did, you know, havin’ to hustle, and pretty much since I was, you know, 17, 18 years old, six nights a week, seven nights a week, I was playin’ in bars coverin’ some of your tunes and everybody else’s and tryin’ to write tunes and be on the road. This is my, you know, goin’ on my 14th year of touring this year, but gettin’ to step into the stadiums with Kenny and be a part of his show is gonna be fantastic.”
Zac Brown relates a story about how Kenny Chesney bailed his band out of a tough situation. (:65)
ZB: “First of all, everybody that’s around him is like, ‘Kenny takes care of his people, second to none,’ you know, he takes care of his people, everybody around him, and he’s an incredible guy. I can attest to that, ’cause we got stuck at the airport one time, and I called Kenny, and he’d already gone to bed. I woke him up, and he’s like, ‘Hey, pal, what’s goin’ on?’ I was like, ‘Well, we’re stuck. And I got to charter a plane.’ I was like, ‘Can I charter your plane?’ He’s like, ‘Give me a minute.’ He had his pilot call me and sent his jet out to pick us up and get us to a show, a radio show, the next day. We wouldn’t have made it there. We had to go. All our luggage is on the plane. We had to go to Guitar Center, buy instruments…”
KC: “I’ve been there, too, buddy.”
ZB: “Yeah, we bought instruments. We went to Walmart and bought Dickies…”
KC: (laughs)
ZB: “…like, clothes, ’cause we’re all in shorts and, you know, travel clothes, so we all bought black, like, work suits, Dickie work suits. And so, we ended up makin’ it happen. I mean, we showed up right before we needed to go on stage with some bunk, you know, guitars and stuff. Just whatever we had to throw together. But anyway, but you know, if that attests anything, I didn’t know Kenny that well, and he’s like, ‘Yeah, I’ll get you,’ you know, sends his jet to come pick us up. And you know, that was my first thing when I was like, ‘Wow, you know, the stories about him are true.'”
Zac Brown talks about getting ready to go on the road with Kenny Chesney. (:21)
“His energy as an entertainer and a performer is so intense, and it’s just…he holds the crowd in the palm of his hands the whole time. Everybody comes to his shows to have a good time, and he gives it to ’em. And he’s always keepin’ that in mind even while we’re rehearsin’, he’s, you know, thinkin’ about how it’s gonna fly over and how it’s gonna impact in the biggest way. So, you know, I’m proud to be on the road with him.”
