Brad Paisley talks about his song, “This Is Country Music.” (1:02)
“Myself and Chris DuBois set out to write something that is a tribute to this music that I love, that my fans love, that country radio takes and presents to people daily. And I’m proud of so many things about country music, and you know, there’s so many aspects of country music that make it what it is, that make it this thing that becomes so personal and so important to so many people. Things like the fact that it deals, head on, with stuff like disease or death or divorce, heartache or love, you know, and the same with partying on a weekend or something as dark as the loss of a loved one who served in the military. We are the format that people turn to. We are the type of music that people rely on, I think, to tell their stories, and I’m proud of the fact that we aren’t afraid to do that.”
