Chris Young is a grateful man. Chris is in a position where his song, “Voices,” has a shot at tying a 25-year-old chart record! Here’s the story: “Voices” was the first single from Chris’ most recent album, and when “Voices” was first on the radio, it just squeaked into the Top 40. Well, after Chris had back-to-back number-one singles with “Gettin’ You Home” and “The Man I Want to Be,” fans and others still believed in “Voices” so much that Chris and his record company released it as a single a second time! Now that “Voices” is a huge hit and climbing the Top 5, Chris could match the record set by Randy Travis, whose classic “On the Other Hand” marked the only time that a re-release of the same recording of the same song ever made it to number-one on the Billboard country chart. Chris is thrilled about the possibility, and he says that the support from fans and country radio has just been incredible, and very, very cool. (AUDIO INFO BELOW)

Chris Young talks about making chart history with “Voices.” (:29)
“Oh man, I’m so excited about this. When we decided to re-release ‘Voices’ in the first place, it was one of those things that was a question mark. You know? What’s this song gonna do? Is it gonna be a hit? You know, is it gonna do the same thing it did last time? And then obviously now it’s been a hit, but bein’ on the cusp of if this song manages to go number one, it’ll be the first time in 25 years that that’s ever happened, you know, goin’ back to ‘On the Other Hand’ with Randy Travis. So, it’s lookin’ pretty cool right now.”
Chris Young talks about the success of “Voices.” (:23)
“The thing is, it’s so surprising — in a good way. We always believed in this song. I had a lot of fans that were like, ‘We believe in that song.’ And then country radio is supportin’ this and pushin’ it, and it’s so cool to see this song doin’ so well. It is a blindside moment. It’s almost like when I got nominated for the GRAMMY. I just was not expecting it, and it’s so cool to see all this stuff happening.”
