Miranda Lambert has set the bar high for celebration plans for her 28th birthday, considering it’ll be very hard to beat the way she spent her birthday this year! Miranda was given three lovely presents Wednesday night at The 44th Annual CMA Awards. She walked home with CMA Female Vocalist, Album, and Video of the Year! These were her first wins at the CMAs, and the thing that surprised Miranda the most: how heavy the actual trophy is! Miranda’s multi-week number-one hit “The House That Built Me” was also awarded CMA Song of the Year, with the trophies going to writers Tom Douglas and Allen Shamblin. Miranda joked that she couldn’t even get excited about her album, Revolution, winning Album of the Year because she was worried about her fiancé Blake Shelton and his nomination for Male Vocalist. No worries, though, the happy couple both walked away winners. Miranda says that with all that’s happened this year, she and Blake are looking forward to the holidays so they can take some time and soak it all in. (AUDIO INFO BELOW)
- Loretta Lynn and Sissy Spacek were the CMA presenters for Female Vocalist of the Year, and Miranda couldn’t have been more thrilled to receive her award from Loretta. Miranda hopes that in 40 years she’ll be able to share the kind of moment with another young artist that she got to experience with Loretta. (AUDIO INFO BELOW)
Miranda Lambert hopes that her wins at the 2010 CMA Awards are a sign of good things to come. (:31)
“I didn’t realize how heavy CMAs were. (laughs) I’ve never won a CMA, today’s my 27th birthday, and it’s my 10th year in making music for a living. I started my first band when I was 17 and got paid 50 dollars a night to play in a bar. Now here I am with three CMAs in my arms. I really feel more level-headed than I thought I would because I hope it’s the beginning, you know? I hope that I’m here 40 years from now handing out an award, like Loretta handed to me.”
Miranda Lambert is looking forward to the holiday break and time with fiancé Blake Shelton to reflect on the busy year of 2010. (:29) (note content)
“It’s kind of a whirlwind. I’m actually looking forward to the holiday where we can just sit down and look at each other and go ‘holy crap’ (laughs), you know? Because we got engaged, and then our careers have just taken off. And I couldn’t even be happy for myself after I won Album of the Year, until, like, right now, because Blake won Male Vocalist of the Year, and he is so long deserving of that. Seein’ his face, and seein’ what it meant to him, was really, really touching.”
