Chris Young is one of the many talented artists performing on the upcoming soundtrack to the feature film, Country Strong, starring Gwyneth Paltrow. In fact, the album is being released on Chris’ record label, RCA, which is also promoting the soundtrack’s first single — Gwyneth’s terrific recording of the title song, “Country Strong.” So with Gwyneth singing and acting, we thought we’d ask Chris if he sees himself taking a turn at acting, as well as singing. - Chris tells us he’s a fan of the Iron Man movies — which feature Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts — and with Iron Man 2 recently released on DVD, he laughs that he feels a little odd that he’ll be heading out to buy a movie starring someone connected with his record label! (AUDIO INFO BELOW)
- The Country Strong soundtrack hits stores on October 26th, and the star-studded album will include Chris’ duet with Patty Loveless on the song “Love Don’t Let Me Down.”
- Chris is on the radio now with his latest single, “Voices,” the follow-up to his back-to-back number-one hits “Gettin’ You Home” and “The Man I Want to Be,” all from his latest album, also called The Man I Want to Be.
Chris Young doesn’t see any movie acting in his near future…and that’s okay. (:30)
“I don’t know if I’m gonna be in a movie anytime soon. (laughs) I’m concentratin’ on the music right now, completely. So, it’s one of those things for me — so much of my life has been put into, you know, obviously the tours that we’ve been on this year, promotin’ ‘Voices’ is, you know, the new single off this record. There’s been so much involved with all of that, gettin’ ready for a new album for next year, and the gettin’ ready for the tours we’re gonna be on next year, hopefully, that, you know, it’s just wild right now, and I don’t know where I’d have time to do (laughs) anything else.”
Chris Young says it feels odd to buy a Gwyneth Paltrow DVD when his record label is releasing the Country Strong soundtrack, which also features Gwyneth. (:11)
“I think it’s kind of odd that now I’m on the label with somebody, and I’m gonna go buy their movie. ‘Cause I have to have a copy of Iron Man 2 ’cause I have a copy of the first movie. So, I’m gonna have to go get a copy. That’s a little weird.” (laughs)
