CARRIE UNDERWOOD: ACM Winner

Carrie Underwood continued her reign as ACM Entertainer of the Year when she walked home with the trophy for the second year in a row on Sunday night in Las Vegas. Carrie is the first female to take the award home twice — this is only the eighth time in the ACM’s 40-year history that a woman has been named Entertainer. Carrie thanked her fans for voting for her in the category and admitted she was overwhelmed by the honor, saying that the win was “the most amazing thing in the universe.” (AUDIO INFO BELOW)

  • Carrie was also honored with the Triple Crown Award, recognizing her past ACM wins for Top Female Vocalist, Top New Female Vocalist, and Entertainer. Only one other woman has been honored with the Triple Crown when, in 2004, Barbara Mandrell was given the award.
  • Carrie’s wins this year and last make her only the sixth solo female artist to win the ACM Entertainer award — the others are Loretta Lynn (1975), Dolly Parton (1977), Barbara Mandrell (1980), Reba McEntire (1994), and Shania Twain (1999).

“Hi, everybody. Thank you so much. This is the most amazing thing in the universe. I completely was not expecting that at all, and I’m the most thankful, most lucky person on the face of the planet right now. And I’m so excited and so happy, and thank you so much. You are amazing, and I don’t deserve you at all, so thank you so much. Thank you!”
