Kenny Chesney hosted a star-studded premiere for his new movie, Summer in 3D, Saturday night (April 17) in Las Vegas, on the eve of the ACM Awards.
Kenny walked the red carpet, as did friends and guests like Reba McEntire, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, actors Morgan Freeman and Matthew McConaughey, TV personality Hannah Storm, and members of Kenny’s band. Once inside the theater, attendees donned their 3D glasses to re-live some of the biggest moments of Kenny’s 2009 Sun City Carnival Tour — the film is a seamless collage of footage captured at six of Kenny’s massive stadium shows last year (Seattle, San Francisco, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and Foxboro, Massachusetts).
On the red carpet before the screening, Kenny explained that his fans were the inspiration for the film. “So many nights I went, ‘I wish they could see this. I wish that they could feel what I feel.’ And they get to with this film.” Summer in 3D opens in theaters nationwide Wednesday (April 21). (AUDIO INFO BELOW)
On the red carpet at the Las Vegas premiere of Summer in 3D, Kenny Chesney explained why he made the movie. (:28)
“So many nights I went, ‘I wish they could see this. I wish that they could feel what I feel.’ And they get to with this film. But not only do they get to — I get to see what they see. And it was…for the first time, really. And it was really special because it just showed me how much they care and how deep this relationship runs, and…it kinda validates the reason for making the film in the first place.”
On the red carpet at the Las Vegas premiere of Summer in 3D, Kenny Chesney talked about seeing the movie for the first time with members of his band and crew from the road. (:18)
“You know, we had a premiere in Knoxville that my family went to…but I wanted to see it with my band. It was important for me to see this film with them and the crew — everybody out there on the road that’s lived this dream with me and has been their dream, too. It was just important for me to see it with the guys.”
