- Jason Michael Carroll is on the radio now with “Hurry Home,” the poignant second single from his latest album, Growing Up Is Getting Old. And while he’s a wonderful interpreter of songs that other people have written, like “Hurry Home,” he’s also a terrific songwriter behind his hits like “Livin’ Our Love Song” and “Alyssa Lies.” In a recent interview with Indiana’s Journal & Courier, Jason Michael said that he sees his songwriting process as “unconventional.” He says, “I come up with an idea, sit down and write on it until a point where I think I’m forcing it. I then set it down and come back to it. It could be later that afternoon or two weeks later.”
- See You in the Funny Papers: Montgomery Gentry recently found themselves immortalized in the classic comic strip Nancy, in a cartoon that celebrated the duo’s induction earlier this year into the Grand Ole Opry. The discovery prompted Troy Gentry to exclaim, “What a nice surprise in my Sunday paper! I think we might have made Nancy’s aunt’s shirt once, but to be the subject and for them to include our Opry induction is very cool. And I’ve always wondered what I’d look like as a cartoon. Very flattering.” And speaking of the Grand Ole Opry, Montgomery Gentry will be among the array of stars performing Friday, October 9th, as part of the Opry’s 84th birthday weekend, a two-day celebration of shows and special events. Meanwhile, Eddie and Troy are enjoying a great anniversary of their own — ten years since the release of their debut album — and they’re riding high on the radio with “Long Line of Losers,” the latest chart-climber from their hit-packed album, Back When I Knew It All.
