Kenny Chesney fans — and, well, who isn’t?! — are stoked for this coming Tuesday because May 19th marks the release of Kenny’s Greatest Hits 2! The disc is wall-to-wall with blockbuster hit singles, including his current smash, “Out Last Night.” Kenny says that all 15 songs on the album have a special meaning to him for different reasons, but he credits the 2001 release of “Young” as the one that really propelled him forward in a big way. He tells us, “If I had to put my finger on one song that kinda took me to the next level and started this amazing magic carpet ride that we’ve all been on over the last several years would be ‘Young.’ It’s still my favorite song to do live.” (AUDIO INFO BELOW)
- For Kenny, his second hits collection is a way of capturing the songs and the excitement of recent years and bridging forward to where the music takes him from here. (AUDIO INFO BELOW)
- Kenny will celebrate his album release in the Big Apple, as he performs “Out Last Night” on Tuesday’s Late Show with David Letterman, on CBS.
- In addition to the current single and “Young,” the new album includes such Kenny faves as “Beer in Mexico,” “Living in Fast Forward,” “Anything but Mine,” and much more!

“There was one song that really kinda started this all. If I had to put my finger on one song that kinda took me to the next level and started this amazing magic carpet ride that we’ve all been on over the last several years would be ‘Young.’ It’s still my favorite song to do live.”
Kenny Chesney says that every song on this hits collection has a special meaning for him. (:30)
“I look at the list of songs on this Greatest Hits 2 record, and I know why they mean somethin’ to me. I mean, I can look at every song and tell ya why I wrote a specific song or why I recorded that specific song. I mean, each one of these songs takes me to a different place on stage. Each song takes me to a relationship, it takes me to a break-up, or it takes me to new love, old love; it takes me to a night on stage when the people were singin’ one of these songs back to me so loud that I couldn’t have ever have dreamt it.”
Kenny Chesney sees this album as a kind of musical bridge to the future. (:36)
“I felt like that in my career that we’ve had such, so much success since the No Shoes album, and I felt like that we’ve released a lot of different kinds of songs, and we’ve been on the road all this time. I just wanted to capture it. I wanted to capture this time. And I think it’s exciting in a way to capture what we’ve done and to see where it goes. And I felt like that now was the perfect time — as any — to try to start buildin’ that bridge to see where the music takes me from here…and I’m excited about that.”
