Kenny Chesney has a massive hit on his hands with his hot new single, “Out Last Night” — a song that he co-wrote. And Kenny says that when it comes to songwriting, what works for him is to grab a couple of songwriting buddies, hightail-it out of Nashville, and go somewhere to just focus on the music. He tells us it’s a great way to escape and “just see where our creative juices go.” (AUDIO INFO BELOW)
- “Out Last Night” is from Kenny’s second greatest hits collection, available May 19th!
- And you can also own the song’s great music video! It debuts exclusively on iTunes beginning May 1st, and look for it everywhere beginning Tuesday, May 5th!
Kenny Chesney says that songwriting works best for him when he can get away and just focus on the music. (:38)
“A couple of times a year, I’d get out of town and take some of my songwriting buddies with me, and we’d get out of the Nashville environment and try to just see where our creative juices go. And sometimes, when you write songs for a livin’, sometimes you write ’em and you don’t even know it. But I take a couple of those writing trips just to do what we do, you know, and it’s almost impossible for me to write on a tour bus. I seem to write a lot better songs when I’m away from the environment of everybody wantin’ somethin’ (laughs), you know? It seems to work a lot better that way, where it’s just, where I can focus on one thing.”
