Jake Owen fans, get ready, because his new album, Easy Does It, hits your favorite music store this Tuesday, February 24th! Jake’s all over the radio right now with the album’s first single, the Top-10-and-climbing smash, “Don’t Think I Can’t Love You.” It’s a song that Jake co-wrote a couple of years ago, and he knew it was a winner the first time he played it. Jake says, “I’ll never forget it, we were in Charlottesville, Virginia. I played that song live, and we got a standing ovation the first time we played it.” And if that wasn’t enough, the ovations have continued every time he’s performed it. Not only has it become Jake’s all-time favorite song, it’s one that he believes has become such a favorite with fans in part because it’s “a song that speaks the truth for most people.” (AUDIO INFO BELOW)

Jake Owen talks about the reasons he thinks “Don’t Think I Can’t Love You” has become such a huge fan-favorite. (:41)
“From day one, I’ll never forget it…we were in Charlottesville, Virginia. I played that song live, and we got a standing ovation the first time we played it, and every time since then that we’ve played it, people just stand up at the end and give us a standing ovation. And I think a lot of the reason is I just try to pour everything I have into that song, performance-wise and emotionally, and I think that’s a song that speaks the truth for most people. It’s the way that I think guys would want to feel and have…be known to their woman. ‘Don’t Think I Can’t Love You’ is my favorite song I’ve ever recorded and may be my favorite of all…I mean, it’s just a great song.”
Jake Owen would love for his music to be a messenger for people. (:37)
“I feel like if I can sing a song where…I remember bein’ a kid and bein’ in high school — or anybody in their life, you know — songs tend to be the messenger for a lot of people. You know, I remember gettin’ CDs from my girlfriend when I was in college or high school, and they made it for me with all these songs that they felt like related to our relationship. And I felt like, for me, it’s my goal to be able to sing a song that someone can then have in their hand and say, ‘Hey, Baby, this song is about us. This is our song,’ you know, and play that. And that’s what I strive for.”
Jake Owen says his new album title really reflects his life. (:21)
“People always ask me, like, ‘Are you nervous when you go on stage,’ or ‘Are you nervous about the direction of your career,’ or ‘Are you nervous if you’ll get a chance to make another record,’ or ‘Are you…?’ It’s like, ‘No,’ I mean, ’cause I just pretty much take it easy all the time. I appreciate the day. I look forward to tomorrow, whether it comes or not. I just kind of take it easy.”
Jake Owen says one of the coolest compliments he gets is when people tell him about how his music connects with their lives. (:21)
“There’s millions of stories of people that have come to me on different songs and said what has made them feel certain ways, and they’ll say, ‘Man, that song you played about what-so-and-so is my life.’ And I think that’s the biggest compliment and the most flattering feeling that you could get is knowing that someone relates to what you’re sayin’, and you’re not the only one out there that feels like that.”
Jake Owen remembers the first time he saw one of his records in a store. (:44)
“It’s pretty cool to walk into a record store and see your record on the shelf, you know, and knowing that you could be anywhere in the country, and your record is there. It’s really neat, especially coming from where I’ve been and what I wished for, and now that it’s coming true, it’s a pretty cool feeling. But I don’t think there’ll ever be a feeling that was as cool as the first time I got to see my record on the shelf. And we were in Rancho Cucamonga, California, and I got to walk into Best Buy the day my record came out and see it sittin’ on the shelf on, like, display, and it just blew me away, just ’cause I always wished for that to happen, and there it was, and it was like somebody granted me a wish.”
