Just because a person attains celebrity status doesn’t mean that they feel any differently than anybody else…or that they don’t want the same things or go through the same ups and downs and moods as anyone else…which is why Miranda Lambert marvels at tabloid magazine features with names like “Stars Are People, Too.” She smiles, “It’s like, what did you think they were?” And while Miranda says she’s just as apt to be reading the tabloids as anyone else, what bothers her is the notion of holding celebrities to a different standard or putting them up on a pedestal, as she laughs, “We’re just people…come on!” (AUDIO INFO BELOW)
- Miranda has been smiling back from checkout stands across the nation as the beautiful cover girl on the February 16th issue of First magazine, in a feature called “How Love Lights the Way.” And among the things Miranda credits her fans for helping her learn is to never fear honesty. “Now more than ever,” she says, “it’s important for me to be loved for who I am, not for who people think I am.”
- Miranda’s latest smash, “More Like Her,” is among the most vulnerable she’s ever recorded, and it’s become the third big hit, following “Gunpowder & Lead” and “Famous in a Small Town,” all from her ACM Album of the Year winner, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
Miranda Lambert says that celebrities are just like everyone else, no matter what you read in the tabloids. (:33)
“I read all the magazines and all the headlines and every single tabloid you can think of. I read ’em! I’m a sucker for it just like everybody else! But one thing that shocks me is that people are like…they have this thing in one of the magazines called ‘Stars Are Just Like Us’ or ‘Stars Are People, Too’ — and it’s like, what did you think they were? I mean, they’re just people with a talent. It’s like, you know, we’re gonna make mistakes, and they’re gonna be, you know, in a bad mood sometimes, and I just hate when people put you on this pedestal that you can’t, you know, live up to sometimes. We’re just people…come on! (laughs)”
