“Every song has its own characteristic, and every guitar has its own characteristic. So you…you know, you have a really good…you have a good sort of a palate if you have a lot of guitars. You have a chance to sort of paint the right picture the more colors that you have to paint with, and guitars are no different. There are some guitars that sound vintage, some guitars that sound more modern, some that distort really well, some that are jazzy, some that are…you know, and so the right guitar on the right song is all a part of the production process. Any studio player you hire will come to your session with an entire arsenal of instruments that can help make the record sound unique.”

“You know, you look over here at these, and that one right there’ll be wrong, I’ll pick another one up, my producer may say, ‘You know, I’m not hearin’ that. You should try somethin’ else,’ or ‘Have you tried that amp?’ There’s not necessarily one right answer, but there are definitely wrong answers, and that helps you find the right thing.”
