As Chris Young continues up the charts with the great groove of his new hit single, “Voices” — an inspiring tribute to the special people and positive influences in our lives — Chris is celebrating a lot of things, from the early success of the single to the upcoming release of his second album and his current role as tour opener for Martina McBride. With a growing list of career accomplishments, Chris has found that he’s having to re-think his short-term goals…in part because he’s achieving things he hadn’t even considered in the first place! He says, “Every year we do somethin’ that I’m like, ‘I didn’t think about that!'” And with tour dates with Martina through the end of August, it’s one more amazing step on the career ladder, Chris says — and a huge thrill — to be the one on the receiving end of hearing, “Here’s your major tour, and you’re the opening act.” (AUDIO INFO BELOW)
- Chris’s sophomore album will also be called Voices…it’s the follow-up to his self-titled debut that made him the best-selling new male country artist of 2006!
Chris Young talks about goals…and the occasional “surprise goal.” (:27)
“People tell me all of the time, they’re like, ‘Well, what are you lookin’ forward to’ or ‘What do you experience the most,’ or, you know, that question, and I set my little five-year goals. I’ve kind of reached that point, so I’m havin’ to set ’em again, and I don’t even know what to say, ’cause every year we do somethin’ that I’m like, ‘I didn’t think about that!’ And this is just such a cool thing for us to be out on tour, really for the first time, billed as ‘here’s your major tour, and you’re the opening act.'”
