Elle King – Country Music Evolution (AUDIO)
When I didn’t know Dierks I was one of those people who said, ‘Oh, I only listen old country.’ And then I had no idea, I really didn’t know. And there is a massive separation, there’s not a lot of people who, listen to a whole bunch of pop and hip hop and modern stuff and listen to modern country and everything. And I know that because of like, where I’ve lived, and you know, all the people and there’s, there’s quite a separation of worlds from the, you know, my multiple lives through this business, you know. And some of my friends who are still in the pop and the rock world, they don’t know a lot about it. It’s like you don’t know that song? You don’t know who that is? So it’s, it’s just really interesting. And my mind was blown, my mind was so blown. And I watched the evolution of pop change from the early 2000s to just, what’s cool, and I saw the walls coming down and I saw that world you know, widen and I came into country with a different kind of perspective. And I was really, like I said I was blown away. And I’m also still watching and I hope that I’m in any way, if I’m so lucky, to be a part of this really cool evolution of country music that is not shifting, but just opening to a lot of different things and like there’s a lot of cool shit going down and I love to be a part of it. I love to see it like it’s just, it’s really wild. And it’s very, it’s very inspiring. It’s really cool.
