“When We Wrote Empty Shotgun we were on a writer’s retreat in Gatlinburg with Joe Fox and Seth Ennis. And I had this title on my phone for probably like a year and I just couldn’t ever really figure out how I wanted to write it. And sometimes inspiration just hits you at weird times. And I think we wrote the chorus at night and then finished it the next day, and we wanted just a high energy song for the show. So if you’ve been to a show, and you’ve heard us play it, hopefully you like it and if you haven’t yet, you got to come to a show and hear it. It’s probably the hypest song we have. So we don’t usually tease songs on the road that aren’t out, especially as an opener, but just seeing y’all love song kind of helped us make the decision. So hopefully I’ll enjoy it as much as we do.“
