“Wild As Her, the first time I heard this song, it reminded me instantly of my wife. My wife is so adventurous, she keeps me on my toes at all times. And we have a blast together. This song is just, you know, really embodies like this free spirit. And one of the things that I find very important in my personal career is letting the best song win. We were sitting around in the publishing office at my publishers, and we had a whole group listening through songs. And this song just raised its hand, everybody in the room knew that it was special. With this song in particular, we knew that we wanted to lean a little more rock and roll and really take the opportunity to make a moment out of it. And so it has huge dynamics. It goes huge and then drops way out and then comes back big again. And so just kind of trying to create tension and release and really make a moment out of it. It’s just this freeing opportunity to be unapologetically you. And I think that’s why people connect with it so much.”

{Nashville, TN – July 15, 2022} – Country singer/songwriter, and Triple 8 Management client Corey Kent signs with Sony Music Nashville on the label’s RCA Nashville imprint, following Corey’s development work with Combustion Music. Corey will continue his partnership with Combustion Music for publishing and more, as he officially hits radio airwaves Aug. 15 with his debut single “Wild As Her.”
“I’m excited to announce that I’m officially a Sony Music Nashville Artist,” says Kent of his signing. “My team and I were humbled to have interest and offers from multiple labels across the country, but over time it became very apparent that Sony was the right team for me. They really shared my vision and had passion for the brand of country music I’m creating. I don’t see signing this deal as the finish line… I see it as the starting block. Now it’s time to go to work and I can’t wait to see what we accomplish together!
2022 is already proving to be a standout year for Corey. His debut single, “Wild As Her,” recently landed Corey his first-ever entry into the Billboard Hot 100 after exploding on the streaming platforms with nearly 70 million streams in just 4 months. In celebration of today’s news, Kent has released a new “Wild As Her” duet with Carter Faith (listen here).
“We had talked about making “Wild As Her” a duet early on, but I’m very particular about collabs, and no one immediately came to mind, so we just put it on the back burner,” says Kent on the duet. “Then one day I’m listening to Carter’s song “Joyride” and then boom it hit me…Carter would be perfect! We reached out to her team and were able to make it happen!”
“When I heard “Wild as Her,” I was immediately obsessed,” says Carter. “When Corey asked me to sing on it, I was genuinely so honored. The song is doing such insane things and I am excited to be a small part of that!”
“Man, being signed with Sony Music Nashville has been a dream. To work towards the same goal for so long and to see it realized it’s just affirmation that hard work pays off. And that keeping your head down and focusing on becoming great at your craft. It’s just, it’s nice to see those things actually play out in real life and it not be just some thing that some older, wiser guy tells you to do. And that eventually it’ll work out in, in real life it happens. And it’s a pretty, pretty amazing ride. I do remember there was a specific moment where we realized we were really onto something with this last release. And we had put in a lot of work on the past two records and had been touring, playing hundreds of shows a year. And kind of all at once it came to a head and we started getting all these phone calls from different labels. And I remember going man, I think this is it. This feels like the right time to sign a deal and feels like we’ve built our career to a point where we can really have some sustained success. And so finding the right partner was really important and we definitely found that in Sony Music.“

About Corey Kent:
With the small-town charm of a boy from Bixby, OK, the big-city energy of Dallas, TX, and vocal prowess that rivals Nashville’s best – Corey Kent has been poised for a career in music from the beginning. Growing up influenced by various genres and artists, Corey started his journey in music at an early age. Taking the stage at age 11 as the lead singer for a touring Western Swing band, Corey hit early career milestones opening for legendary acts like Roy Clark and The Oak Ridge Boys. A few years later, he would be booking gigs around his hometown of Bixby, OK and by 17 he made his way to Nashville.
In 2020, Corey released his From the West LP which garnered 3.5+ million aggregate streams and set the stage for his next chapter. His song “Gold” and fan favorite “Ain’t My Day has nearly 15 million streams combined. In December of 2021, Corey released his sophomore album, ’21, to an overwhelmingly positive reception and landed on multiple playlists across the streaming platforms with his single “There’s Always Next Year.” On March 4, 2022, Corey released his smash hit single “Wild As Her.”
A road warrior, Corey has been seen out on the road performing over 100 shows a year in 2021 alone. Along with headlining his own shows and playing the top music festivals across the country, Corey has been the supporting act for artists including as Parker McCollum, Cody Johnson, Chase Rice, Eli Young, Josh Abbott, Flatland Cavalry, and Kolby Cooper. Corey also has major success writing songs for others including Kolby Cooper, Brandon Jenkins, Clark Green’s #1 hit “Hit You Where It Hurts” and more.
“So I grew up playing western swing music in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I was 11 years old whenever I played my first show to a sold out 1800 people at Cain’s Ballroom. And I was opening for Asleep At The Wheel and opening for the Texas Playboys. And that’s been a 16-17 year journey now, to my first ever record deal. In between that was, you know, going to college and starting a college band and, you know, traveling all over the country playing hundreds of shows a year. Remaining independent largely for the majority of that in terms of kind of having to wear all hats. You know, create the merchandise and sell the merchandise and book the shows and act like, you know, come up with a name that sounded like a real manager to send from my alternate email to make it seem like we were a little more legitimate than we actually were. But it’s been a lot of sleepless nights been a lot of sacrifice for my family, my wife, my kids, they’ve been the backbone of building this music career. And thankfully, I feel like we’ve got the best of both worlds. We’ve got a healthy, thriving family and also now a music career is starting to take off so I’m very thankful.“
